Introduction to wim.tv

 

wim.tv is a digital media ecosystem for diffuse trading of video content. Currently the following business roles are supported:

Creators
entrust videos to Syndicators with a variety of licences (CC, PPV, CPM etc.), and event report requests;
Advertisers
entrust ads to Agents with a variety of ad campaigns and event report requests;
Syndicators
promote and license to WebTVs Creators' videos;
Agents
promote and license to WebTVs Advertisers' ads;
WebTVs
offer video/ad services with a variety of modalities;
End Users
browse and access WebTV videos according to the terms set by the value chain players;
EventMonitors
collect events and let authorised users access relevant statistics;
WebBanks
handle typically small transactions executed by wim.tv users in the platform.

wim.tv is constantly enriched with more features to enable more business roles make the ecosystem as lively and efficient as possible. A simple walkthrough shows how the wim.tv ecosystem works.

Walkthrough
Creator
entrusts videos to the Syndicator of his choice. Syndicator may request payment in order to place Creator's video in his portfolio. At each play Creator is remunerated according to the terms of his licence to Syndicator. Creator can know how well his content is faring and may be willing to pay Event Monitor for that privilege.
Syndicator
posts his content for WebTVs to see. Alternatively he may actively promote his content to WebTVs. Syndicator is typically paid by WebTVs and pays Creators. Typically balance is positive.
Advertiser
entrusts ads to the Agent of his choice. Agent may request payment in order to add Advertiser's ad in his portfolio. Typically when an impression occurs, WebTV requests payment to Agent. This requests Advertiser who pays Agent who pays WebTV keeping a portion of payment. Similarly Advertiser may wish to access Event Monitor's statistics.
WebTV
posts videos acquired for End Users to browse and select. WebTV can choose the type of delivery model: free (e.g. Creative Commons), with ads, pay-per-view or subscription, within the conditions set by the value chain upstream.
End User
browses and selects videos posted on WebTV portals. End User generates events collected by Event Monitors and may consume video for free (possibly with ads) or pay for viewing videos. He may even be paid for watching ads...
EventMonitor
collects event generated by End Users but also by other Users. He processes the events and provides access to statistical data related to events.
WebBank
handles transactions made between wim.tv Users. All transactions are made in points. Conversions of points to money and money to points is effected by entities not shown in the figure.
